The Lab Assistant II is the second level in a three level instructional lab support series. Incumbents are responsible for providing instructional assistance, software support, maintaining departmental records and inventory supply.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

Position requires a minimum of forty-five (45) college credit hours. However, twenty-three (23) of the required forty-five (45) credit hours may be substituted with one and one-half (1-1/2) years directly related work experience. If work experience is used as a substitute for minimal educational requirement, then, it can not also be used to qualify for minimum work experience. Minimum 3 years Business Computer Technology or Computer Science work experience required.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

AA Degree; 5 years of experience in Business Computer Technology or Computer Science field.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

Applicable computer programs and equipment;
Basic Accounting;
Modern office procedures;
Test administration principles;
Record keeping principles;
Supervision and training techniques.
Prioritizing tasks;
Monitoring records and files;
Inventorying supplies;
Using computers and related software; 
Basic maintenance; trouble shoot hardware problems
Basic tutoring/mentoring ability
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, faculty, staff, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of course management systems (Blackboard Learn) and related software. 
Experience working with publisher material online and in a classroom environment.

Job Duties

Provides instructional assistance to include: assisting in an open computer lab setting and assisting instructor in a computer classroom setting. Ability to load and troubleshoot software and communicate with the software company.
Responds to questions and problems from students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Also serves as a liaison to the community.
Provides assistance and mentoring to students.
Maintains department records and files.
Provides assistance with registration and orientation.
Assists in the maintenance of department inventory of equipment and supplies.
Performs basic maintenance duties as needed to ensure a clean, safe learning environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

No or very limited physical effort required. 
No or very limited exposure to physical risk. 
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

$47,923
