The Workforce and STEM division is responsible for providing instruction in the natural and applied sciences. The division offers an array of professional technical certificates and degrees as well as transfer degrees. Serving under the general supervision of the Executive Dean of Workforce and STEM, the Associate Dean will lead, direct, and manage assigned programs/areas within the division. 

  • Promote an environment supportive of the College mission, vision, and strategic plan, and of student-centered services and teaching excellence. 
  • Coordinate on schedule construction, ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and program needs. 
  • Promote and support equity, inclusion, and intercultural/multicultural awareness, knowledge, and competency among division staff and faculty. 
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state, regional, and specialized accreditation standards
  • Develop, reconcile, and manage budgets within funding amounts under the direction of the Executive Dean.
  • Establish and maintain regular, positive, and effective communication with campus employees.
  • Assist in resolving complaints, conflicts, and other issues between division employees. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the resolution of division student concerns/complaints. 
  • Supervise the development or revision of course/program curricula to assure overall quality and alignment with appropriate academic and professional standards. 
  • Responsible for supervision of divisional associate faculty and classified staff. 
  • Manage the hiring process of associate and pro-rata faculty within the division, assisting the Executive Dean with other recruitments as assigned. 
  • Evaluate and mentor faculty and staff while promoting professional and career development.
  • Promote partnerships with external educational, professional, and business communities
  • Represent the division and units within the College, in the community, in professional organizations, and with state boards, commissions, and other agencies. 
  • Work with faculty/staff to manage facilities, equipment, and supplies within funding amounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.





  • Master’s degree in one of the division’s disciplines OR directly related professional experience.
  • Progressive experience managing/administering instructional programs in a higher education setting.



  • Current theories, principles, and operational best practices applicable to division programs. 
  • Microsoft Office applications including Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word programs
  • Effective leadership/managerial principles, including the practice of effective supervision.
  • Budgeting principles/practices; policy development and implementation.
  • Techniques for effective presentations and communication in a multicultural environment.
  • FERPA, Title IX and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to instruction. 



  • Contributing to global competency by fostering a climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Directing program activities, including the administration of budgets and funding sources.
  • Training, evaluating, mentoring, and supervising faculty and staff.
  • Applying inclusive instructional pedagogies for Shoreline’s diverse student populations.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Fostering an environment of continuous improvement through program assessment.
  • Time management and coordinating outcomes on multiple projects 
  • Ability to work independently or within groups, under competing deadlines and interests.  
  • Utilizing clear/concise communication skills; analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Recognizing/ creating opportunities in response to emerging business and educational trends. 
  • Managing and/or implementing applicable provisions of employee collective bargaining agreements
  • Managing sensitive situations using established College policies and procedures.



This is a full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position with initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experience. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
