Closing : 1/23/2022 11:59 PM Central Position Description The Academic Resource Center (ARC) Assistant will report to the Timberwolf Learning Commons Manager and work to increase student retention and success by matching students facing academic challenges with qualified coaches, tutors, and academic support services/resources. This position is grant-funded.
This position is accountable to the Timberwolf Learning Commons Manager. Duties & Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with TLC Manager to recruit, schedule, and train peer tutors.
- Assess individual student needs and provide a tutor who can best support the student's success and learning style.
- Support the student/tutor match as it proceeds, collaborating with the ARC and faculty to resolve potential issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate ARC resource booths, tutor study groups, and coach workshops.
- Organize and implement tutoring venues for regional campus and online students.
- Collaborate across the college with programs, College Prep Center, Disability Services, and the Student Success Team to support student learning, retention and graduation.
- Responsible for supporting Academic Resource Center service desks and customer service functions within the Timberwolf Learning Commons.
- Provide customer assistance in locating information and resources, as well as operating equipment and computers in the Timberwolf Learning Commons and ARC locations.
- Document activities for reporting and client record keeping processes.
- Assist with the customer feedback process for tutoring consumers and participants. Collect feedback for tutoring program improvements.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to verify work study funds or student employment eligibility
- Provide daily support to students, coaches, tutors, and faculty regarding existing ARC services. Provide presentations and staff training as needed.
- Keep ARC service information current in Starfish and other ARC interfaces.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years' post-secondary education appropriate to position responsibilities with at least two (2) years of office/administrative assistant experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgment, and make decisions within the scope of authority.
- Requires working knowledge of computer software, office procedures, organizational skills, time management, multi-tasking skills, and creativity and resourcefulness to resolve problems.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and ability to relate to and work with diverse and special student populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, with a minimum keyboard speed of 45 wpm, database management, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
