Posting Number 2011072PF Position Title Associate Degree Nursing Instructor - Candidate Pool Anticipated Placement Range Depends on experience Pay Grade Level Position Type Part time Posting Category Faculty Department Health & Human Services Position Summary These positions will report directly to the Associate Dean of Nursing and provide instruction with an emphasis on medical/surgical nursing and/or OB/GYN, including lecture, laboratory, and clinical. The Associate Degree Nursing Instructors will maintain standards of achievement in courses that are equal to those in parallel courses and necessary to meet the demands of the occupations for which they are preparing students. Instruction will be at the Janesville Central Campus, but may be assigned some duties at the Monroe Campus or Beloit Center based on need. Position Responsibilities 1. Provide instruction for assigned classes. 2. Assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure internal consistency, and graduate outcomes which meet work place and placement expectations. 3. Facilitate a program of student evaluation to determine effectiveness of instruction and student achievement. 4. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism. 5. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices. 6. Identify students needing assistance and refer students with problems to Student Services. Cooperate with the Student Services and Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment. 7. Remain current of developments in the teaching field so that instruction provides for individual learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and can utilize alternative delivery methods. 8. Be familiar with the curriculum content of assigned courses and use continuous quality improvement techniques to update content so that it fosters current evidence-based program assessment and improvement. 9. Prepare and update course syllabi for each course taught and work cooperatively with members of other departments in coordinating courses. 10. Work cooperatively with the library staff in the selection of reference materials and coordination of library reference work for maximum utilization of library and other resources. 11. Participate in staff development activities and serve on college improvement teams and college wide committees as appropriate. 12. Attend advisory committee meetings; department, division, and faculty meetings. 13. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration. 14. Cultivate a personal interest in communities served by the college and participate when possible in community activities. 15. Meet weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student, employer and college needs. 16. Assist the Nursing Coordinator with other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in medical/surgical and/or OB/GYN nursing. 2. Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience as an R.N. 3. Willingness to comply with annual health screening requirements. 4. Current or eligible for Wisconsin license to practice as an R.N. Must be licensed to practice as an R.N. in Wisconsin by the beginning of employment. 5. Must remain current with health care provider CPR certification. 6. Must meet Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements and be willing to maintain such certification. 7. Willingness to teach in any area of nursing as assigned. 8. Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance. Preferred Qualifications 1. Two (2) years teaching experience (full-time or part-time) in nursing. 2.
