Job Summary This posting represents anticipated ongoing part time instructor openings in the field of Veterinary Technology.

All newly hired part-time Faculty will be placed on Step 1. 

Full term pay rate may vary by course. Actual term pay is based on the course catalog contact hours multiplied by the appropriate hourly rate. 

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees. Employment in these positions will require, as a condition of employment, payment of monthly union dues or a monthly fair share fee in lieu of dues through automatic payroll deduction. 

Portland Community College will hire only United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States. All new employees will be required to complete the designated Immigration Service Employers Verification I-9 form.  
Responsibilities/Duties -Instruct students, using approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area Faculty. 
-Assess and grade student achievement of learning outcomes. 
-Use student feedback to improve teaching. 
-Be available for a reasonable amount of student contact to respond to questions and to resolve problems related to the course through time spent before or after class or through telephone or e-mail exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit. 
-Attend one staff meeting per term as directed by the College and when notified by the Division Dean. 
-Provide additional hours of course-related student conferences or tutoring over and above classroom instruction when courses are designated as requiring such.  
Minimum Qualifications Requirements are Course Specific: 

VT 100, VT101, VT102, VT 103, VT110, VT203, VT 204, VT280 Instructor 

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution 
AND 
5 years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent 
AND 
State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT). 
OR 
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree PLUS veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. 


VT121 Instructor: 

Bachelor of Science in Animal Science PLUS Master's of Education in Agriculture Education, 
OR 
Master's of Science in Animal Science, 
OR 
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree PLUS veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners; large animal experience preferable. 

VT113 Instructor: 

Masters of Science in Microbiology, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), or Medical Doctor (M.D.) with broad knowledge base in the classification of infectious microbes, the common diseases which they cause, and their growth and identification in the laboratory. 

VT 209 Instructor: 

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree PLUS veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners; large animal experience preferable 

All other 100-level and 200-level VT course Instructor: 

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree PLUS veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for courses in which not having current licensure would violate statutes of the state veterinary practice act. 

*Instructors shall have earned required academic credential at a regionally accredited institution.
