Position Summary

The Research Advanced Analyst will be part of an eight-member team working in a fast-paced and dynamic department in which priorities can change on short notice depending on the needs of the College. The position is responsible for developing, writing, and analyzing various reports, through the use of statistical analysis and data interpretation.  The Research Advanced Analyst is responsible for performing comprehensive, interpretive statistical and data analysis.  Specific activities involve developing statistical reports, utilizing statistical software and support the Strategic Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, and analyze various data-based statistical reports related to enrollment, student characteristics, and course grades, occupational programs, course characteristics, and related information, including the ability to assess and provide context information to support interpretation of the results
  • Serve as primary point of contact for data related to grant applications and lead the development of data and reporting to support that area
  • Prepare federal and state mandated reporting
  • Use inferential and descriptive statistical techniques to retrieve, analyze, and report aggregate student and course data and statistics, institutional effectiveness data and statistics, and support program and services review
  • Propose and carry out advanced research applied to institutional research data
  • Conduct research and analyze data to support College goals and improve understanding of student success
  • Provide input and serve as a resource for the development and dissemination of results in responding to research project requests
  • Use written and oral skills to present data to administrators, standing committees, and other appropriate College employees
  • Respond to inquiries from College departments, students, and the public related to enrollment statistics, graduation rates, and related institutional information
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Four years of  research experience


  • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency


  • Master's degree
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Software

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Advanced research methods, including research design, data integrity issues, and diverse numerical analysis methodologies
  • Experience working with large, complex relational databases such as SQL
  • Participate in team project activities with College staff
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate advanced research results
  • Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including development of reports and statistical summaries for diverse audiences
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
  • Ability to be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic work environment
  • Applicable computer programs and software applications
  • Customer service principles
  • Data collection techniques
  • Statistical analysis principles, including inferential and descriptive statistics
  • Summarizing research findings
  • Survey sampling methods and principles
  • Research design and sources
